Nothing beats that amazing feeling when you walk out of the salon with new, fresh nails. Whether you have had an infill or new set, they look and feel amazing. So how do you get the most out of each and every set, how do you keep them looking fresh even with growth and your day to day tasks?
Here are Nat’s top tips to keeping them fresh…..
Tip 1 – Top Coat
Top coat is a great way to rejuvenate the shine.
Re-apply every 2-3 days to keep them looking fresh and protect the gel from the elements. We would always advise you use the Bio sculpture top coat as it is compatible with your Gel.
This product is available to buy in salon at £7.95
Tip 2 – Cuticle oil
Applying cuticle oil daily is an essential part of maintaining the perfect healthy nails, Ginger Fizz, Tropical Tango and Forest Fruits Cuticle Oils are enriched with natural oils to help promote healthy nails and cuticles.
Experience this exotic collection of scentsational cuticle oils. Specially formulated to nourish, moisturise and rehydrate dry, damaged cuticles.
This product is available to buy in salon ay £5
Tip 3 – Chemicals
Avoid using harsh chemicals, for example cleaning products such as bleach, which will soften the gel and cause lifting. If you need to use these products I advise you wear some gloves.
Tip 4 – Hand creams
Hand creams are amazing for your skin, but the wrong ones can cause problems with your nails. The oil content in some hand creams will cause your gel to soften and lift.
This cream is available in salon, Ask Amy, Steph or myself on your next appointment and we will apply some for you to try (it smells amazing). Just £8 for 250ml bottle.
Tip 5 – Gloves
Always use gloves when doing any dirty jobs, gardening (not in this weather I hope!), cleaning, decorating. Or even better, get someone else to do it!!
Tip 6 – Treat your nails like jewels – not tools!
Avoid picking at your nails, this may seem like an obvious tip but you will be surprised at the amount of people that do it without even noticing (watch Dani if she is in, she is TERRIBLE!!)
Don’t use your nails as a tool, if you need to scrape something, use the correct tool rather than your thumb nail!
Also don’t use nail tools or file or clip your nails even if you get a break or are getting too long. By doing so you will break the seal created to protect your nail, allowing water, dust and dirt to get underneath the gel. This will then lift further and could cause damage to your natural nails.
Tip 7 – Repairs
If you do have a break or a nail start to lift please book in to get it repaired to put you on to your next appointment.
If you are close to your next appointment or don’t have time to have it fixed, you can repair yourself temporarily with Bio compatible glue and then top coat once dry.
Glue is available in salon for £6.50
